Volunteer with the Pioneer Marching Band

Pit Crew

As the marching season quickly approaches, it is time to start gathering volunteers for pit crew. Pit Crew is a team responsible for loading, unloading and transporting the marching band instruments, equipment and props to and from football games and marching band competitions.

For home games, the crew assists in making sure all of the pit instruments and color guard props are at the field prior to the performance. After the performance, the equipment is taken back to the band room and the crew is free for the evening. For away games and competitions, the pit equipment, percussion, props, instruments, and uniforms are transported via large trucks. The crew is responsible for loading and unloading the trucks as well as getting the band on and off the field.

Volunteers are not expected to be available for every game and competition, simply that they help out whenever your schedule allows. Pit crew generally reports for football games about the same time the band reports. For exhibitions, the pit crew arrives at the school to commence loading after the kids are finished rehearsing. There is a strong core of volunteers ready, willing, and able to help, but the pit crew is in need of a volunteer to coordinate for the 2014 season.

Chaperones

In order to adequately facilitate student safety and other considerations, we need eight chaperones for all events requiring a bus. Please see the calendar for away games and competitions. Mrs. Karren Kurtz is leading this endeavor, and is also in charge of plumes.
